AUSTIN, TX – Police in Oak Park are investigating two armed robberies that took place on Austin Avenue within a half hour of each other early Friday. The first robbery took place in the 600 block of S. Austin around 3 a.m. and the second took place in the 800 block of S. Austin at approximately 3:33 a.m.

The victim of the first armed robbery told police they were walking in the 600 block of S. Austin when they were approached by a masked man who got out of a blue Mazda hatchback that was missing a rear bumper. Police say the suspect showed a black semi-automatic handgun and then stole $26 from the victim before heading south on Austin.

About a half hour later, a person walking in the 800 block of S. Austin told police that they robbed by a man who got out of a newer Toyota that was also missing the rear bumper. The suspect was reportedly armed with a black and silver semi-automatic handgun and stole a Ventra card and $40 in cash from the victim before fleeing northbound on Austin.
